Referral considerations
Common reasons to refer
- New or persistent swelling after cancer surgery, lymph-node treatment or radiation
- Suspected or established primary or secondary lymphedema
- Lipedema-related pain, heaviness, mobility limits or possible lymphatic involvement
- Need for complete decongestive therapy, compression guidance or self-management education
- Cancer-related fatigue, weakness, limited motion, pain, balance changes or functional decline
- Post-mastectomy or post-surgical mobility, scar and swelling concerns
What patients receive
A focused evaluation and practical plan.
Specialized intervention
Care may include complete decongestive therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, compression guidance, exercise and education when clinically appropriate.
Functional rehabilitation
Intervention for mobility, strength, fatigue, balance, pain, scar restriction and return to meaningful activity.
Patient self-management
Clear education and a realistic home plan designed around the patient’s abilities, resources and goals.
